Put Your Life into Focus
About me
A warm welcome to those of you who know me, as well as those who don't but would like to know something about my counseling background and qualifications. I received my B.A. (Honors, Psychology) from UNC, and my M.A. (Clinical Psychology) from NC Central University. In addition to graduate training in clinical psychology, I’ve received specialized training as a Crisis counselor, and Grief and Hospice counselor.
Before becoming a crisis counselor, I interned at UNC’s Department of Psychiatry in both Child/Adolescent and Adult Inpatient Psychiatry. In addition to having facilitated and co-facilitated numerous therapy groups, I predominantly draw from my own personal experience and growth as a client- intermittently spanning six decades.
I listen for what is said beneath your words, and use my experience and intuition to provide you support to get from point A to point B, while at once holding the space for your own inherent wisdom to do the necessary work to accomplish your goal/s. Rather than subscribing to labels, I look at you as an individual within a larger framework to get a feel for how you respond to situations that arise within that context; and whether or not those responses add or detract from the quality of your life~and the lives of those around you.
I prefer working with folks in transition, ranging in age from early adulthood to seniors. If I don’t feel I’m the right person to work with a given client, I will let you know. For example, I no longer feel equipped to handle psychoses, character disorders, or eating disorders.
My initial session is complimentary, and I look forward to meeting and getting to know you. I invite you to contact me via phone, email, or text.
Warmest personal regards,
Lee
